  Mainly all other forms of TV (basically meaning analog tv) are things of the past and digital will eventually be the main option for viewing. DTV takes up less bandwidth so cable conpanies can provide more channels at the same price as regular basic analog tv cable because it costs less to produce the image.

  Digital tv (calbe) gives off a much better picture and sound also. Even can be continuously enhanced by certain TV's or receivers. HDTV is only available in digital cable and other certain features or services can only be available through digital. I love the On Demand feature where you can watch shows and movies that are currently being broadcasted; at any time you want but choosing them in the menu. Not to mention the DVR function where you can record your shows. Plus there are work out programs I can use to work out from home instead of buying a bunch of DVDs.

  Some negative effects are that eventually when everything goes digital, your analog TV will become obsolete unless you pay to have a converter box but you still won? get the digital quality that you are now paying for. It makes you almost have to buy a new TV to reap the benefits. There is signal delay also. I have been on the phone with someone during a baseball game which they are watching on an analog tv and they started screaming and celebrating about 7 seconds before I saw the winning homerun on my end.

  analog faxes are sent in the same principles of an analogue television, with each scanned line transmitted as a continuous analogue signal. horizontal resolution depended upon the quality of the scanner, transmission line, and the printer.

  All televisions sold after March 1, 2007 include a digital tuner (by law) so you are good if you have bought a TV since then.

  If your television is labeled as ?ntegrated Digital Tuner,??igital Tuner Built-In,??igital Receiver,??igital Tuner,??TV,??TSC,?or ?DTV?then it has a built in device that will be fine after Feb. 17, 2009.

  If your television set is labeled as a ?igital Monitor?or ?DTV Monitor,?or as ?igital Ready?or ?DTV Ready,?this does not mean it actually contains a digital tuner. All this means is this TV is capable of handling the converter box. Thus, you still will likely need a separate set-top box which contains a digital tuner in order to view over-the-air digital programming.

  Digital camera video features are great for small display or webcams. They do not hold the regular camcorder capacity.

  Same issue with cell phones but x2. Cell phones are even smaller so you will be dealing with grainy resolution and sketchy sound quality if you want to use it in bigger picture.

  Basically for blog, fun, webcam, short videos, small projects, etc. You can get away with using just a digital camera or cell phone but for things such as family vacations to corporate advertisements; you would want something more advanced. Not mentioned but memory capacity is really small in cell phones/digital cameras. You can only film a few minutes at most.

  Your digital camera and cell phone only have limited space and very short recording time. So it would depend on how much you want to record @ a time. I have all 3 & with the cell you can get something spontaneously, but if you go on vacation or have a certain event you plan to attend and want to capture the most of it I wouldnt do it with out video cam.

  Yes. Digital television sets are ?ackward compatible,?meaning existing analog equipment (VCRs, DVD players, camcorders, video games, etc.) will work on digital TV sets.

  However, their video will only be displayed in the maximum resolution that is available with each analog product. So if it is digital or HD compatible then it will show as so. If it is an old receiver then it will display as it always had (meaning a little grainy)

  Manufacturers are producing a number of different connectors to hook equipment together and improve picture and sound quality when DTVs are used with existing analog equipment. Since everything is going digital, you know companies will be cashing in anyway possible to build various convertors to buy. Check with your retailer to determine the types of connectors that will work with your equipment.

  DTV transition will not affect satellite TV subscribers who receive their local TV stations through their satellite dishes. Satellite TV service is a digital service and all satellite subscribers must have a set-top box connected to their TVs to receive the satellite-delivered programming.

  you should check with your provider to find out if you receive a local TV station package through your satellite dish just to make sure.

  Your satellite TV system may be using digital technology as a more efficient way of delivering analog programming to you but if you have an analog television set, then you are probably not getting digital. Bottom line?your satellite tv service might be fine but your tv will not be.

  urban legend?the chances of this happening are very rare.

  I read on Kodak that unprocessed film can be damaged by the new x-ray scanners that are placed in airports now but it does not effect digital cameras in anyway.

  unprocessed film can be damaged yes but this can be avoided and if it makes you feel better for your digital camera?bring all film devices on carry on. carry on scanner are lower level scans that rarely effect any film.

  A couple years ago it was only a couple receivers that allowed you to do so. I would go to Best Buy or Circuit City and ask a professional what units work and what don't.

  If you are tricky you can get away with it on a lot of receivers. Mine was not suppose to but there was a VCR function on my receiver that I wasn't planning on using so I hooked up the audio and video wires from my receiver to my digital box as an "acting VCR". It works just great and really adds to the effect of shows.

  Case in point?it will still not sound as good as a DVD would because DVD's are 5.1 and cable is just 2.0. Although still very enjoyable to watch your favorite shows in surround sound. If you have any extra audio input on your receiver and an audio output on your cable box then your good.

  Most digital TV's are 16:9, meaning 16 inches wide for every 9 inches tall. You are not missing out on the picture; the display is just designed to be wider for widescreen tv shows/movies/specials. This is called letterboxing.

  Analog tvs and programs are only 4:3 so when a 4:3 program is converted to a 16:9 TV?This results in wide boxes called pillar boxing to appear on the sides of your TV and not the top like widescreen.

  Some commercials that formatted in letter and pillar boxing so when a show jumps back and forth formats from program to commercials it is because things are filmed and formatted differently depending. Some commercials can have black out sections on the top and sides of the screen. Some even have the zoomed effect formatted in their commercials so if you have a non-compatible TV then it will look like the image is cropped and parts are missing.

  Photo printers are definitely the way to go if you want to print out your digital camera pictures on a regular basis.

  Some cameras are sold in bundles so you save a buck if you buy in bulk. You can also take your memory cards to almost any photo lab to have them professionally printed as well.

  I use to just print mine out on photo paper with my PC printer?they look great at first but in longevity, they fade a lot and start to warp. For longer lasting pictures I would buy a printer or take it to Walgreens or something.

  The higher the megapixel the clearer the finish.

  2.0-3.0 megapixel cameras are pretty standard right now so anywhere from 2.0 and up will give you a better quality.

  Buying a higher quailty camera makes all the difference. If you want everyday great pictures then your standard 2.0+ megapixel camera will be great. If you are looking for a more professional look then that depends on lense, quality, etc.
