Do I need a license to drive an ATV?

    Post Your Answer

  • MPgreen

You do not need a driver license to drive an ATV, but sometimes restrictions apply.

  • wepeskin

For instance, drivers under the age of 16: in order to drive without adult supervision on a property where ATV use is permitted; the child must completed an ATV safety-training course approved by the DMV

  • HarrisFalick

You can operate an ATV on public lands where signs indicate that ATV use is allowed. Only operate an ATV on private property if you have permission from the property owner.

    Why can't I get a 3 wheel ATV anymore?

    Post Your Answer

  • fgardner

The obvious is that a 4 wheel is more acceptable because it has more stability than a 3 wheel because of its higher rate of tipping.

  • Nwilson

They banned 3 wheel ATV's from the US in 1988 because of the amount of injuries reported from them. The front end of 3-wheelers obviously has a single wheel, making it lighter, and flipping backwards is a potential hazard, especially when climbing hills. Rollovers may also occur when traveling down a steep incline. The consent decrees expired in 1997, allowing manufacturers to, once again, make and market 3-wheel models, though there are none marketed today.

  • DUBrier

Safety issues with 3-wheel ATVs caused all manufacturers to switch to 4-wheeled models in the late '80s, due to consent decrees between the major manufacturers and the Consumer Product Safety Commission?he result of legal battles over safety issues among consumer groups, the manufacturers and CPSC. Recently the CPSC has succeeded in finally banning three wheeled ATV's with attachments to bill HR4040.

What kind of oil should I use for an ATV?

    Post Your Answer

  • tconner

This is a common question and it really doesn't matter what you use. It all depends on if it works with your ATV. Four Stokes in the warmer months does better with a heavier oil while in the winter months use a lighter oil.

  • ongreenspan

For the in betweener seasons I would use a mix. For say summer to fall I would start whiching to a lighter oil as the temps get cooler but from spring to summer I would start using a mid-level heavier oil for more protection with rising temps.

Two strokes are different from four strokes in that a two stroke doesn't need oil to lube the engine. They do use fluid in the transmission. You can use motor oil or you can use a special fluid made by a major manufacturer for two strokes. The fluid is more of a trans fluid - its what I use. It makes the clutch "FEEL" and work nicely.

How do pocketbikes handle in comparison to a full size motorcycle?

    Post Your Answer

  • olympia

A pocketbike handles much like a larger motorcycle, but because the wheelbase and weight are much less, it changes direction quicker.

  • Rharris

The front wheel of the more powerful pocketbike models can rise up without hesitation with the application of power; also due to the short wheelbase, they can turn very quickly.

  • kayjames

This in most peoples opinion adds to the fun factor, but demands that the rider has protective clothing, and is familiar with the bike in question. If you don't know how to ride one then you will hurt yourself.
