I am computer illerate, but I know I want to upgrade my dell po, and I want a laptop. I want to be able to download most games and music, and dvd's I now have a dell desk top with a cd burner. Not the newest on the block. What is the best to purchase (yet most reasonable) computer to do all of this? I also want a laptop that I can dothe same/which is the most reasonable and the best for what I want todo. As you can tell, I am computer illiterate and don't want to get ripped off/ best brand for the money. I have a dell pc now, is it worth upgrading?

If it's for a computer you can buy a USB Card Reader to transfer your files from your memory stick to your computer. They aren't too expensive especially considering their functionality for making memory card reading easy. Can but one for $5-10 at Radio Shack depending if they are on sale which 50% of the time I have needed to buy one, they are.

Some computers come with a pre-existing memory card slot. Same with some printers or other electronic devices. You would simply plug-n-play for files from there. For photo's, printers can plug the memory card in and print from there. This comes in handy at photo processing facilities as well so you can print and edit your photo's yourself, on the spot. My TV even has a memory card slot so I can look at photo's on a big screen. More and more electronic devices are having Memory Card slots standard in their products.

You will need an adapter if you have a Micro or smaller/bigger card than the standard size. This is just simply a "sleeve" that you place your card into and then plug it into either a USB Card Reader or a physical Memory card slot. They arent too expensive to buy and actually some cards come with these anyways.

I downloaded a back up program for my work. It's a one man consulting shop so there isnt a ton of material to insure but the download version was great. No need to go out and buy a program because everything you need is right online. You download the back up and have a copy on your computer and then they store a version of your back up as well so its like having 2 insurance policies.

It may take some time to find it but I know on my Windows XP computer there is a built in back up program. You just need to find the Windows VP back up and restore wizard and it walks you through the rest.

You can customize and order any Dell computer or accessory online or over the phone. Sometimes if you actually talk to a rep they can clue you in on extra's and packages you wouldn't know about looking online.

Very important to at least do occasionally?everyday or week is not completely necessary but at least once a month is smart. It? that or loose everything you have.

Even so on a weekly basis is smart. If a virus takes over your computer you can refer back to the last day of back up instead of taking the computer in somewhere to have them clean it out.

It's just a safe way to assure your files. Important in a financial sense too much its way more expensive to pay someone to reload your materials then it is just to pay to have a program automatically back them up.

GREAT! They allow you to add what you want and not pay for what you don't. You get everything standard without a choice but if you have a certain field of work where you use a feature more they can customize your computers to reflect that.

You can pay to have someone set it up for you but if you have patience and good computer know how, then give it a try yourself! Signal is good from upstairs to downstairs also. Worth not paying a cable company to set up 2 networks.
