  Positive influences are socialization however this can be a double edged sword. Although I did hear a crazy study where people who watched Sesame Street when they were preschoolers had higher grades, were reading more books, placed more value on achievement and were more creative.

  Studies in both children and adults have found an association between the number of hours of television watched and obesity. A study found that watching television decreases the metabolic rate in children to below that found in children who do not watch obsessive tv.

  I think it soley depends on what you let your kids watch. There are plenty of educational channels and programs that kids can benefit from but can be negatively effective if all they watch is South Park and violent shows all day. Monitoring your childrens television is the best way to positively influence their young little minds.
