They sell wireless units now for your back speakers. Only for the 2 far working units though. The front and center speakers are still wire. It's great though because they can hide anywhere since they are on signal. Some people think and believe that you may lose a little sound quality but its all based on opinion and your sound preference.

If you have drywall then this is easy to do?just drill a hole in the wall and then feed it through to your hook ups. Same can be done obviously for drop down ceilings. In our basement I just fed the wires through the ceiling and then drilled a hole in the dryway for the wires to come out close by the receiver.

If your carpet allows you can pull it back and stuff the wires. I did that at our first place but now we live on hardwood floors so I found a great alternitive. I went to our local Ace hardware and found these wire covers that have paste on the back so they can go anywhere on the walls. Bought enough to cover our surfaces and then painted the covers to match our wall paint. At first glance you can't even see them but they are there. It is a great and inexpensive (maybe spent $20 on the covers thats it) way to hire wires wherever you place your speakers.
